What Is Face Slimming and How Does It Work?

Faces come in many shapes and sizes. Some of us want to have fuller faces (fuller faces can look younger on many clients) and some of us wish to have slimmer faces (slimmer faces can look younger on many clients, as well). There are many treatments available to make the face fuller (e.g. fat grafting, cosmetic fillers, and working out the face muscles) and there are several treatments that can make the face slimmer.

The face slimming treatments include strategic application of neuromodulators (e.g. Dysport®, Xeomin®, Botox®), cosmetic fillers (YES – fillers, strategically applied to the right locations can make face appear slimmer!), appropriately applied radiofrequency, Ulthera® and focal MicroLiposuction. The keywords in this statement are “strategic application”, “strategically applied” and “appropriately applied”. This is a fact – different treatments are just “tools of the trade”. Beautiful results can be created with these tools and, when applied in another way, the results can be less than satisfactory. It is all about the doses, depths of treatments, parameters, and aesthetic vision that comes with experience and studies.

Who Is a Candidate for Face Slimming in Edmonton?

Many people do not know that Edmonton faces slimming is even possible. Even though most of cosmetic fillers are used to produce fuller, rounder, curvy facial contours, other treatments can be used to produce a slim appearing face.

Slimmer faces are generally longer (from top to bottom) and not as wide as fuller, rounder faces. This ratio of the length to the width is what determines how we perceive the facial shape.

The length of the face is largely influenced by the projection of the chin (this can be enhanced with cosmetic fillers or fat grafting). The width of the face is largely determined by cheek lateral projection (upper cheeks and lower cheeks). Although the upper cheek lateral projection can not be changed easily (because it is related to the zygomatic bone), the projection of the lower cheek regions can be modified with neuromodulators (e.g. Dysport®, Xeomin®, Botox®), micro liposuction, Ulthera®, and radiofrequency modalities. Each of these therapies has a unique application and parameters and, when used correctly, can produce Youthful Image Face Slimming results!

Possible Side Effects of Edmonton Face Slimming Treatments

Generally speaking, the side effects of the Edmonton Face Slimming treatments are specific to each modality used.

With respect to the use of neuromodulators (e.g. Dysport®, Xeomin®, Botox®), there may be some localized bruising, temporary tenderness, unintended weakness of the muscles treated, asymmetry, and the need for additional corrective treatments. Further discussion regarding possible additional side effects will be reviewed during the comprehensive consultation.

With respect to cosmetic fillers (e.g. Restylane®, Juvederm®, and others) and fat grafting, the side effects can be related to the locations treated and the products used. There could be temporary tenderness, bruising, asymmetry, inflammation, and intravascular injections (rare). These side effects are generally transient but, in rare circumstances, more permanent complications can arise. Further discussion regarding possible additional side effects will be reviewed during the comprehensive consultation.

With respect to MicroLiposuction, there can be some bruising, tenderness, or minor irregularities at the donor site (where the fat graft came from) and the recipient site (where the fat graft was deposited). Most of these changes are temporary but some can be long lasting. Further discussion regarding possible additional side effects will be reviewed during the comprehensive consultation.

With respect to Ulthera®, a procedure where micro-focused ultrasound energy is used to tighten and lift the skin, some temporary focal tenderness, bruising, swelling, numbness, tingling, itchiness, and redness can occur. Most of these changes are temporary but some can be long lasting. Further discussion regarding possible additional side effects will be reviewed during the comprehensive consultation.

How Much Does Face Slimming Cost in Edmonton?

The cost of facial slimming depends on the kinds of treatments used to achieve the desired results. The cost would be less when only neuromodulators and cosmetic fillers are used compared to the cost when additional treatments such as Fat Grafting, MicroLiposuction, or Ulthera® would need to be incorporated. In addition, one or more treatments may be needed to achieve optimal Youthful Image Face Slimming results.

These specific costs will be reviewed during comprehensive consultation with an experienced team of cosmetic specialists. Needless to say, we do not want any surprizes when the cost of the proposed procedures is concerned.
